There have been a number of chess publications from the Hampshire Chess Association, with the main one being the HCA Bulletin which was first published in 1961 by John Grant. In 1967 when he retired, George William Kilmister who was also one of the editors of Westward Ho! took over and this became a more polished article. That said, I really enjoyed the John Grant ones, as he was not shy is stating his opinion on the current Hampshire Chess situation.
Update – July 2023: I have located what I think is all of the Hampshire Bulletins. All copies now uploaded. The Hampshire Bulletins mainly cover the County matches, Individual Championships, Hampshire, Southampton and Portsmouth Chess Leagues. There is a huge amount of material in them and this has really helped me complete a number of gaps I had, and will be used for additional articles in the future. I really recommend reading these to understand Hampshire Chess in this period. The 1971 – 72 editions detail the issues Hampshire had with the SCCU with regards to more and more matches being held in in the metropolitan counties and less and less closer to Hampshire. This ultimately led to Hampshire leaving the SCCU and joining the WECU.
A short lived (1 edition) Chilworth Review Magazine was also produced by Pat McEvoy.
Finally, there were also some Newsletters originally from Ken Retallack and later by me produced from 1998 to 2003. These stopped when the original Hampshire Chess Association website was set up, as this was the main portal for information on Hampshire chess.
