Update on the original article – Paul has kindly supplied two articles from the Southern Evening Echo, which he has located. These articles detail the tournament, but also additional information on the ongoing SCL leagues, and other chess activities. As Paul noted it is interesting to see the prominence and detail given to chess on the sports pages.
The 1969 Hampshire Individual Chess Championship (for the 1968 / 69 season) was held at Southampton University the two middle weekends of October 1968.
