Since 2022 we have had an annual pre-season friendly match against Fareham. Match report on the 2024 match. Update Aug 11 2024: Patrick Pavey has supplied his game where he saved half a point tempting his opponent with a piece which could not be taken. This allowed a perpetual check.
Update July 2024: I have managed to locate additional information. Originally I thought this was a six round tournament, but in fact there were seven rounds. Although I could not locate the results from the sixth round, as I now have the seventh round the final scores these have been calculated.
I have also added various updates from the Portsmouth Evening News “Chess Notes” articles.
Update – July 2024: July 1984 (KD 30) and Aug 1985 (KD 34) have been supplied by Ian Thompson (and John Saunders). These highlight the West of England Championships for the year, and John has added the games and Crosstables to Britbase along with the 1981 Winchester one.
