The 1951 Hampshire Individual Championship was played between late 1950 to mid 1951 and this would bring WJ Fry his fourth and last title. His first was pre war in 1933 and his other two wins were in 1939 and 1949 (the one where there is no inscription on the Silver Rook). Again I have very little on the Championship, but it is good to have a place marker in case anything is identified at a later date.
For a list of the winners of the Hampshire Individual Championship and links to any articles I have written the table on the Hampshire Individual Championship is the best place to look. In addition, the table on the Hampshire Tournaments will detail these and any other tournament articles I have completed. Both of these are available from the menu at the top of the site as well.
Hampshire Chess Championship
Despite the statement in the 1951 AGM that the 1951 Championship was proceeding enthusiastically none of the Council minutes of AGM actually mentions the winner. I get the impression that the final stages still had the same issues with the completion of the competition. There is also nothing on who entered the competition or if this was played in divisions and a final section as in previous years?
For this reason it is probably just to best to skip over the early stages at this stage unless I locate additional information.
Final Positions
As per the Silver Rook the winner of the competition in 1951 was WJ Fry.
Games
No games from the championship this time.
Summary
Despite quite a bit of searching I cannot locate any additional information on the Championship, apart from the fact that it took place and that WJ Fry was the winner!
