In the Hampshire Chess Archives there were two booklets from the 1980’s which I have scanned and made available. In 1983 Southampton Chess Club celebrated their centenary and in 1986 the British Chess Championship was held in Southampton.
John Saunders who runs the excellent Britbase website pointed me in the direction of a County Match between Hampshire and Buckinghamshire in October 1951 where one of the Hampshire players was Sir Robert Stonehouse Broomfield.
