In the Hampshire Chess Archives there were two booklets from the 1980’s which I have scanned and made available. In 1983 Southampton Chess Club celebrated their centenary and in 1986 the British Chess Championship was held in Southampton.
The Southampton Chess League was first held in 1922/23 (which makes at the time of writing this the centenary season).
