All 21 of the George Kilmister Hampshire Bulletins from 1967 to 1973 have now been added. These are a great resource for the Hampshire Individual Championship, County Matches as well as a Hampshire, Southampton and Portsmouth Leagues.
Prior to 1893 Hampshire had played a number of friendly chess matches against Surrey, Sussex and Wiltshire. Hampshire had been playing in the SCCU since 1894, but the Montague Jones Cup was introduced in 1925. This article looks at Hampshire’s second win of this Cup in 1929/30 and their five County Chess matches in the season.
Very surprising that this was over 30 years ago! But Hampshire reached the Open National Chess Finals in the 1991/92 season where they met Staffordshire. The Hampshire County chess team this season was probably as strong as they have ever been with numerous ECF 200 (2200) graded players in the team for matches.
