Arthur Brameld has kindly supplied his chess games (over 1200!) for the website. One of my plans is to preserve Hampshire Chess games for the future and this will certainly help. Arthur played competitively since the early 1960’s, and at his peak was extremely strong, playing board one for the county at least 16 times. In addition to his games in this database this also means I have games from Hampshire players from another era, which will be of great use to me.
I am looking to add to this process, and hope more Hampshire players supply their games (chessbase files appreciated). You don’t have to be as strong as Arthur to do this, as this is meant to showcase Hampshire players of all levels.

Snapshot of Games
Everyone has their style of play, although strong players can never be shoe boxed. If you look at Tal you will see many examples of excellent endgames and for Petrosian some great sacrifices. However players are normally known for a certain type of play, and Arthur has some excellent attacking games. I used Chessbase to search for winning sacrifices and this returned 281 games (not all would have been by Arthur) which is a very large percentage.
I give some of these games below, but will leave you to find others and I can vouch that you will find some excellent games.
The first game is from more than 60 years ago, but It is not often you get to sacrifice a Knight and then your Queen for Knight!
Another Queen sacrifice, followed by a smothered mate. Tim De Buriatte’s grade is quite low here, but he was strong enough to be Fareham club champion four times between 1962 and 1971. Arthur was the champion in 1975, as well as three other times.
Arthur beats future GM Peter Wells in the PDCL. There are 9 games in the database against Peter with Arthur winning 2 and drawing another 3.
Finally a game which Arthur annotated from the 4NCL in 1998.
Playable Games
I am not sure if this will be the final solution to play through the games, but for now this can be done through this Chessbase file.
